So your neck and/or head hurt?

When did it start? Did it come on slowly or quickly after a certain event? Does the location of the discomfort change, move, radiate, alternate based on time of day, your position or activity? Does the discomfort remain localized to just your head, your neck or does it seem to be associated with shoulder or elbow or hand pain, numbness or tingling? Is there an electric-like shock feeling associated with movement of the neck? Are you dropping things or have you noticed that your neck or arms appear to become more fatigued, weak or just plain tight-feeling? 

What makes the discomfort worse? What makes it better?

These are some of the questions you should be asking yourself because they are all important in order to determine the likely source of the discomfort, BEFORE any imaging (XRAY, MRI, CT) should be considered.
